In recent years, we’ve seen an increase in the usage of our defibrillators, and having the British Heart Foundation as our charity partner, we can educate our staff, players, and partners on the importance of living a healthy and happy life. We are proud to have staff who are trained in both First Aid and Defibrillator use in all 43 clubs.
Working alongside the British Heart Foundation we're aiming to raise £75,000 over the next 3 years.
"Having a charity partner is a first for GOALS and personally I cannot think of a better partner than the British Heart Foundation, we are both committed to improving the nation’s health and fitness and there is no better way to do this than by exercising regularly."
- Ian McDermott, Managing Director of Goals
Heart Month took place in February, marking a dedicated month to raise awareness of heart or circulatory health. Heart Month provides an opportunity to both educate and fundraise for vital funds to go towards the lifesaving research carried out by the British Heart Foundation.
Our own Corrie Kane-Thom and Marcus Strudwick, members of GOALS' fundraising committee were recently invited along to the British Heart Foundation lab, located in Glasgow to see first-hand where a huge proportion of the 75K Goals has pledged to raise for the charity will be going.
"We were blown away by the work that's been done and a lot of it relies on donations from organisations like GOALS."
- Marcus Strudwick, Learning & Development Manager of GOALS
43 GOALS clubs and Head Office have been busy taking part in various activities in a bid to raise as much as possible for the British Heart Foundation. We've approached the half-way mark with a whopping £10,000 raised so far. This is a huge achievement and wouldn't have been achievable without everyone committing to contribute to this life-saving cause.
Fundraising efforts that have taken place are pub quizzes, tournaments, raffles, bake sales, discos, breakfast mornings, and themed parties, to name a few. Some further fundraising activities that are still to come:
Additionally, GOALS' Finance Director, Jordan Longmuir is supporting the British Heart Foundation in his testimonial year for Pollok FC. Last November, the Jordan Longmuir Testimonial 5-a-side tournament took place at Goals Glasgow South with £500 raised for the charity. Most recently, Pollok FC has issued Jordan Longmuir pin badges with profits going straight to the British Heart Foundation.
Please join us in supporting the British Heart Foundation by donating directly to our Just Giving page here, or by purchasing a Jordan Longmuir Testimonial Pin Badge here.
